Tampa Bay Buccaneers invited to the White House by US President Joe Biden

It is a tradition in the USA for the champions of the major sports leagues not only to enjoy new finger jewellery, but also a reception at the White House. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no exception.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a special appointment on Tuesday. As the “Associated Press” reports, US President Joe Biden has invited the NFL champion’s team to the White House on 20 July.

Many heads of state before the 78-year-old had already honoured the winning teams in the major US sports leagues by welcoming them ceremoniously to the US centre of power. Further details about the invitation were not initially known. The agency refers to unofficial statements by a White House staffer.

Buccaneers follow suit of MLB champion LA Dodgers

As a rule, the most powerful man in the world and the title holders exchange gifts as well as pleasantries at the ceremony. There is also time for a commemorative photo together, which is already obligatory.

Most recently, Biden had already welcomed the Los Angeles Dodgers as MLB champions – the Californians had won the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays last October with 4:2.

Buccaneers won their second Super Bowl at home

The “Bucs” had secured their second Vince Lombardi Trophy on the night of 7 to 8 February at their home Raymond James Stadium by defeating the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs 31-9.

In the NHL, another team from Tampa Bay, the Lightning, had asserted itself a few days ago. The NBA will play out its new champion in the ongoing finals series between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks, where the score is 2-2 before game five on Saturday night.
