NFL Draft 2023: Jalen Carter likely to fall out of favour with several teams

Jalen Carter has caused a stir in recent months – and rarely a positive one. The undoubtedly the best defensive tackle in the draft has now arguably scared off potential suitors because of his failures.

Actually, defensive tackle Jalen Carter of the Georgia Bulldogs had an outstanding year.

Not only did he put himself on display individually with top-notch athletic performances, he won his second consecutive National Championship with his Bulldogs.

Since then, however, things have gone steadily downhill. First he was involved in a fatal car accident, then he came to the Scouting Combine completely out of shape and most recently he announced that he won’t even meet with teams that don’t have one of the first ten picks in the upcoming draft.

Teams apparently scared off by Jalen Carter

A prime example, then, of so-called “off the field issues,” constant sidebars on what is actually an incredibly talented player.

These failures are now apparently keeping the first teams from wanting to draft Carter. At least that’s what NFL insider Albert Breer is reporting.

At least two teams are said to have lost interest. One of them is the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carter is considered by many experts to be the second most talented defensive player in this year’s draft. Only Will Anderson of Alabama is rated higher by most. How deep Carter falls in the draft remains to be seen.
