NFL: Jamie Collins signs with Patriots for third time

After being released by the Detroit Lions, linebacker Jamie Collins re-signs with the New England Patriots. This will be Collins’ third stint with the Patriots.

Munich/Foxborough – The New England Patriots have brought a familiar face back to their defence.

NFL Network reports that linebacker Jamie Collins is joining Bill Belichick’s defence for the third time since 2013 and 2019.

Collins was previously released by the Detroit Lions.

Former second-round pick and Pro Bowler

2013 Patriots had Collins selected with their second-round pick in the NFL Draft, in three years in New England he amassed 236 tackles, nine and a half sacks, three interceptions and a call-up to the 2015 Pro Bowl before moving on to the Cleveland Browns for big money.

In2019, he returned to the Patriots as a free agent and was part of one of the strongest defenses of the past decade. In one season he had 63 tackles, seven sacks and three interceptions.

His statistically best year earned him a three-year, $30 million contract with the Detroit Lions. Although the contract was restructured in the offseason, the Lions still have to pay Collins almost nine million dollars this season.
