NFL in Germany: Munich City Council approves! NFL in the Allianz Arena possible!

The NFL in Munich? It’s a distinct possibility! Because the city council has approved the application of the Allianz Arena as a venue for the NFL’s German games in the coming years. The NFL wants to make a decision by the time of the Super Bowl 2022.

Munich – Will the Allianz Arena in Munich soon host NFL games? The city council of the Bavarian capital this week approved the plan to apply for games of the “NFL International Series”.

Munich, Frankfurt or Düsseldorf?

In addition to Munich, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt have been defined as possible venues by the NFL. By the time of the Super Bowl 2022, the NFL wants to announce which city and which stadium will ultimately be awarded the contract. From 2022 to at least 2025, regular season games are to take place in Germany. So far, this has only been the case – on European soil – in London.

This week it was also announced which teams will be allowed to use the country of Germany as a marketing platform in the next few years. In addition to the New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Tampa Bay Bucccaneers and the Carolina Panthers will also venture across the “big pond”.

Two-time German Super Bowl champion with the Patriots, Sebastian Vollmer, already let slip in an interview with ran: “I will come to Germany with the Patriots next year and also bring a few players with me. And there will certainly be more promotions like that to come.”

So NFL fans in Germany can look forward to 2022.
