NFL Combine 2023: Calijah Kancey breaks Rams superstar Aaron Donald’s record.

Bearish performance at the NFL Scouting Combine. Pittsburgh defensive tackle Calijah Kancey breaks record once set by a current superstar on 40-yard dash

Impressive performance by Calijah Kancey. The Pittsburgh Panthers defensive tackle made history at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The 22-year-old completed the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds – and thus faster than any defensive tackle since 2003, according to “Next Gen Stats”.

The 6-foot-4, 127-pound Kancey, who is expected to be drafted in the first round, broke the previous record of 4.68 seconds – set in 2014 by now-Rams superstar Aaron Donald.

Smith impresses at Combine

Extremely fit Nolan Smith, meanwhile, also showed up. The Georgia Bulldogs edge rusher ran the 40 yards in 4.39 seconds, faster than Giants running back Saquon Barkley once did, according to “NFL Research.” It was the second-fastest time in history at his position, with only Virginia Tech’s Amare Barno running faster last year at 4.36 seconds.

In addition, Smith shined in the high jump with a better performance than D.K. Metcalf once did and in the long jump with a stronger performance than Von Miller. However, because he tore a pectoral muscle in October, he did not participate in the bench press.

Meanwhile, another top prospect, Ohio State defensive end Zach Harrison, did not participate in the Combine. While expectations were high for the rookie, a pulled hamstring made it impossible for him to participate. Harrison now plans to show up at Ohio’s Pro Day at the end of March.

Back at the Combine is Jalen Carter. After a warrant was issued for his arrest for reckless driving and his subsequent arrest and release, he returned to do interviews and get measured. However, he did not train on the field.
