Draft candidate Dabo: “NFL also stands for ‘not for long'”

Football pro Marcel Dabo has advertised himself for a long time, now the Reutlingen native is hoping for a call in the upcoming NFL draft.

Cologne (SID) – Professional football player Marcel Dabo has long advertised himself, now the Reutlingen native is hoping for a call in the upcoming NFL draft. “I am convinced that I will get the chance somewhere,” the 22-year-old told news portal watson.

The distribution of talent among the 32 teams from the US professional league begins on Thursday. Dabo, who played for Stuttgart Surge in the European League of Football (ELF) last season, would like to go to North America. “I gave it my all in the last ten weeks at the training programme from the International Player Pathway Program and influenced every factor I could. Now it’s out of my hands,” said the cornerback.

If things don’t work out as hoped in football, there is an alternative. “I’m studying in Tübingen: Teaching Physical Education and English. I’m in my fifth semester now and will probably take a semester off first,” said Dabo. But he also knows that a career in the top league can be over quickly: “NFL also stands for ‘not for long’. It can be that you are out again in a year and come back. But it can also be that you have a ten-year career and never have to work again.”
