The spectacular trade of the No. 1 pick is a win-win-win deal. Chicago’s general manager impresses with a special move. Comment.
So it’s happened now. Fans and pundits have gotten what has been speculated, discussed and kind of expected for so long.
The Chicago Bears have traded the No. 1 pick.
And the Carolina Panthers are now going all out to secure what they see as the best quarterback in the draft.
Whether that’s Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson or Will Levis, we’ll find out on April 27.
The Panthers are paying a high price for this, owner David Tepper has had enough after years of average quarterbacks and disappointments, he finally wants his man for the future – and he has apparently found him and doesn’t want to take a chance on losing him to someone else.
Tepper goes his own way. Hence the high price.
Chicago Bears get wish receiver
As far as anyone hears, he was even willing to add a first-round pick in 2025 to go with the 9th and 61st picks in 2023 and the first-round pick in 2024 and second-round pick in 2025. Bears GM Ryan Poles really wanted DJ Moore, though.
It could be the biggest move in this spectacular trade. Poles was already on the wide receiver at the last trading deadline, wanting him badly. At that time, the Panthers turned him down.
Now Poles has him to give quarterback Justin Fields the No. 1 receiver he so desperately wanted. Moore is now tied up for three more years and $52 million – a dream scenario for Poles given his age and accomplishments.
In addition, he can address the numerous weak spots on the squad with the 9th and additional 61st pick in 2023.
Poles, in only his second year as general manager, has delivered his masterpiece – and provided spectacle for fans and Tepper alike. A win-win-win trade.
