Alvin Kamara could be suspended by NFL for season opener

A hugely important date awaits Alvin Kamara several weeks before the start of the season. In court. Part of whether the NFL even lets him play in September will likely depend on that.

catch up soon and have consequences for the upcoming NFL season. Because the league is watching very closely how the case surrounding the running back of the New Orleans Saints develops, reports “ESPN”.

Shortly after the Pro Bowl, Kamara was arrested on charges of aggravated assault in a Las Vegas casino. Because the lawyers had asked for more time to prepare their defence, the court hearing had already been postponed twice, and is now scheduled to take place on 1 August.

Kamara suspension by NFL possible according to “ESPN “

Since it could be some time before a ruling, Kamara is likely to be on the field in Week 1 as things stand. Unless he is placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

This is used in special cases for professionals who are temporarily out of action and continue to be paid, but do not block a squad spot.

“ESPN” has learned from the league that Kamara could be suspended as things stand. But nothing is certain in either direction yet and the NFL’s decision could depend on the outcome of the case.

Kamara and Lammons allegedly kicked man lying on ground

In a court case, Kamara should need as good a defence as he had on the pitch. For according to police, a video taken early on 5 February at the rooftop Drai’s nightclub shows the five-time Pro Bowler placing his hand on the alleged victim’s chest to prevent him from going up the lift. The man reportedly pushed the hand aside and was then punched by Chris Lammons of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The cornerback, who only a few weeks ago extended his contract with the Chiefs, is also threatened with punishment by the NFL. As a result, the man who was attacked allegedly lost consciousness and was kicked several times by four people – including Kamara and Lammons – while lying on the ground. The result was fractures in the face and injuries to the head, knees and arms.

So the NFL apparently has every reason to look very closely when the case is adjudicated in court.
