Despite missing quarterback Baker Mayfield and running backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns narrowly prevailed over the Denver Broncos.
Cleveland – The Cleveland Browns pulled out a 17-14 win over the Denver Broncos despite quarterback Baker Mayfield missing the game due to injury. Backup Case Keenum completed 21 of his 33 passes for 199 yards and threw a touchdown pass.
The man of the match, however, was running back D’Ernest Johnson, who has hardly made an appearance so far, running for 146 yards and a touchdown. He was a first-class substitute for running backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb, who were also injured.
The Broncos created a thrilling final phase when they came within three points with 5:23 minutes to go with a touchdown pass from Teddy Bridgewater to Javonte Williams. However, the Browns offence did not give the ball back.
Bridgewater recorded 187 passing yards, two touchdown passes and an interception. The defense of note was ineffective and only managed one sack.
The Browns now stand at a 4-3 record, the Broncos at 3-4 after their fourth straight loss.
