NFL: Rob Gronkowski returns to the New England Patriots – but only for one day

Rob Gronkowski could return to the New England Patriots once again, bringing great joy to one special person.

Rob Gronkowski played for the New England Patriots during his illustrious NFL career between 2010 and 2018, winning three Super Bowl championships alongside quarterback legend Tom Brady.

This time and these successes obviously mean so much to the former tight end that he wants to officially end his career as a Patriot. To do so, however, he would have to sign a one-day contract with the franchise.

“I like that a lot,” the 36-year-old told reporters in Boston on the sidelines of the inauguration of his “Gronk Playground” when asked about this possibility.

NFL: Former cheerleader Hurley had the plan for Gronk’s comeback

The idea didn’t come from him, but from Susan Hurley. The former cheerleader is something of a good soul for the Patriots. She organizes many charity events. She herself has advanced cancer and has had to undergo treatment in hospital several times since May.

“Susan Hurley is the reason we’re doing this,” said Gronkowski, deeply moved by Hurley’s request that he end his career as a Patriot. “She wants to see it happen, it’s a big dream of hers.”

Gronkowski donated $1.8 million for the playground on the Charles River, which made Hurley especially happy. “This generous donation shows how much he feels connected to New England and that his heart will remain in Foxboro,” Hurley said.

That’s why she decided to come out of hiding, Hurley continued: “Can we make it official now and sign him for one day so he can retire as a Patriot?” she asked Robert Kraft. The Patriots owner was also confident about the matter.

Gronkowski also became Tampa Bay NFL champion

After announcing his retirement in 2019, Gronkowski returned to the NFL in 2020 and won the Super Bowl once again with Brady at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A year later, he ended his career for the second time.

Now everything points to him making another comeback — even if only for a single day.
