Baker Mayfield may demand Cleveland Browns trade to Indianapolis Colts

With the arrival of Deshaun Watson, there is no more room for Baker Mayfield in Cleveland. The quarterback had already called for a trade from the Browns before, and now he’s adding a specific target.

Munich – Baker Mayfield’s time with the Cleveland Browns is over.

On Friday, it was announced that Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is joining the franchise. The Browns are said to have offered him 230 million US dollars for five years – fully guaranteed.

So there is now no room for the former playmaker. Even before the Watson news, Mayfield had already demanded a trade from his employer. “It’s best for both sides to part ways,” he explained in an interview with “ESPN”. “The relationship is too spent.”

Cleveland did not initially comply with his request. However, that is likely to change following the Watson signing.

Baker Mayfield wants to play for the Colts

Shortly after the announcement, Mayfield is said to have insisted again with the Browns’ management, this time with a concrete wish. The Athletic reports that the pass rusher wants to play for Indianapolis.

With the departure of Carson Wentz, the Colts have a need at the playmaker position. However, Mayfield is not the only interested party. For example, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has also been linked to the franchise on and off in recent days.

Mayfield still has a contract in Cleveland until after the 2022 season.
