NFL: Raiders make Pierce head coach

The Las Vegas Raiders from the National Football League (NFL) have appointed Antonio Pierce as head coach. The 45-year-old had already coached the team as interim coach for nine games this season, winning five of them. The Raiders led by Stuttgart fullback Jakob Johnson missed out on a place in the play-offs.

Pierce had taken over the team from the players’ city from Josh McDaniels, who was dismissed at the end of October. Johnson had been removed from the active squad by Pierce in the meantime, but was later reactivated for the training squad and nominated for games.
