After Mahomes: Chiefs also give Chris Jones a monster contract

After the Kansas City Chiefs already had to dig deep into their pockets at Mahomes, the next superstar is now getting a contract extension at the reigning Super Bowl winner.

Payday for Chris Jones – High guaranteed amount
According to Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, 26-year-old Jones will soon sign a new four-year contract. The deal has a total volume of 80 million US dollars, but can rise to up to 85 million through possible bonus payments.

The defensive end is guaranteed to receive around 37 million US dollars by the time it is signed. In total, he is guaranteed 60 million US dollars, even if he misses a large part of the games due to a possible injury.

Last season, Jones played an important role in the Chiefs’ play-off run and was considered by many to be the secret MVP in the Super Bowl. In 13 games in the Regular Season he also came up with nine sacks and a forced fumble. Before the Chiefs could agree on a contract with Jones, they put him on Franchise Day.
