NFL – New England Patriots: Serious allegations against safety Jabrill Peppers – Commissioner Roger Goodell reacts!

The New England Patriots will probably have to do without safety Jabrill Peppers for longer. However, the 29-year-old has not been injured, but has come into conflict with the law.

The New England Patriots have completely messed up the start of the NFL season. After five games, the former success franchise has a record of one win and four losses and will now probably have to do without Jabrill Peppers for even longer.

As NFL insider Adam Schefter reports, the safety has been placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List and is therefore not allowed to participate in games or training.

Only NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can put players on this special list. Teams do not have this authority. The commissioner also has the sole authority to determine how long the player remains suspended.

Peppers was arrested by police in Braintree, Massachusetts, last Saturday and therefore also missed the game against the Miami Dolphins (10:15 a.m.) on Sunday.

As reported by NBCBoston.com, police were called to a disturbance at an apartment building early Saturday morning. Peppers was arrested on the scene on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of a class B substance (cannabis, cocaine, codeine or similar).

The girlfriend of the Patriots star has now made horrific allegations to “WCVB-TV Boston”: “My boyfriend put his hand on my neck and slammed my head against the wall, then pushed me down the stairs.” Peppers himself vehemently denies the allegations.

On Monday morning, the 29-year-old appeared in court. Peppers did not make a statement to reporters after the court appearance. However, his attorney said: “I repeat what I said in the courtroom: We have evidence that completely refutes the story of the alleged victim, and I expect my client to be fully exonerated.”

When asked if the evidence was video evidence, he replied, “Yes, and other evidence as well.”

Patriots HC Mayo: “I knew what was going on”

The Patriots did not comment on the incident, saying that the police were still in the middle of the investigation: “We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend that is currently being investigated by the police. We will not be making any further comment at this time.”

Head coach Jerod Mayo struck a similar chord on Monday morning: “He called me. I knew what was going on. We informed the NFL and are gathering more information.”

Peppers has been playing for the New England Patriots since 2022, has been part of the extended starting lineup since then and is even one of the team’s defensive captains. He has already made 23 tackles and an interception in the current season.
