NFL: New England Patriots get rejected! Bucs star Chris Godwin stays in Tampa Bay

Chris Godwin decides to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency, although according to rumors he could have earned around $20 million more in New England.

Chris Godwin was considered one of the most coveted free agents of the current class. Accordingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quickly agreed on a new deal with their wide receiver – Godwin will receive $66 million in Tampa over the next three years, $44 million of which are guaranteed.

Godwin could have earned even more money. Shortly after the deal was leaked, it was also clear that the New England Patriots would have liked to have signed the receiver as well. The Patriots offered “around $20 million more,” as the NFL Network reported.
New England Patriots: Chris Godwin was not interested.

It is unclear how the $20 million was put together. The most likely scenario is that New England offered Godwin an additional fourth year of contract.

According to the report, the Patriots were not an option for the wide receiver as a new team, so Godwin rejected the offer and ultimately returned to the Bucs after much speculation.
