Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will play six primetime games in the first eleven weeks of the coming season. The superstar quarterback is not surprised
Six primetime games in the first eleven weeks of the 2024 season: The New York Jets’ schedule has set a record, as no team has played more primetime games in the regular season since the 1970 merger.
Aaron Rodgers is not surprised. The quarterback said in an interview with “Mad Dog Sports Radio”: “I love it. We’re must-see TV, that’s pretty obvious. Everybody knows that. Love me or hate me, people want to see me play.”
The 40-year-old added: “They enjoy watching me play and we’re a must-see team this year. That’s not surprising. Six prime-time games in the first eleven or twelve weeks. I love that.”
The Jets will be on primetime US television as early as week one. Then they open their season in the Monday Night Game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Mike North, the NFL’s vice president of broadcast scheduling, had previously told reporters why the Jets will be playing in primetime so often: “Yes, it’s a lot of games early in the season, but I feel like the Jets owe us one.”
North was alluding to the injury to Rodgers, who tore his Achilles tendon in week one last season. The Jets had already played five primetime games in 2023, albeit without their incapacitated superstar playmaker.
Things should be different in 2024. At least that’s North’s wish: “Hopefully he stays healthy and hopefully theyre relevant.”
