Denver Broncos: Hopeful Russell Wilson wants to play “another ten or twelve years”

The Denver Broncos present their new hopeful Russell Wilson. The star quarterback wants to win several Super Bowls with the franchise and play for “another ten or twelve years”.

Munich/Denver – Russell Wilson is officially a Denver Bronco. Amid much media attention, the Broncos introduced their shiny new star quarterback.

Albeit with a few years’ delay, the team has found the legitimate successor to franchise legend Peyton Manning. Accordingly, those responsible around the new head coach Nathaniel Hackett and general manager George Paton presented themselves proudly at the first joint press conference.

Paton emphasised that trade talks had been going on “for weeks”, that Wilson was the team’s “number one target” in the offseason and that “we would have done anything to get Russ”.

At one point, Paton reportedly asked Coach Hackett how he would feel if the Broncos could get Wilson. “I don’t think he said ‘yes,’ he said, ‘Hell yeah,'” the GM said.

Hackett, in turn, joked that Paton then told him to watch videos of Wilson’s game “to make sure” he really wanted the trade. “I wanted him to watch the video,” Paton said with a smile, “He (Hackett, ed.) replied, ‘I don’t need to watch the video, he’s been kicking my ass for many years.'”

Good vibes everywhere you look in Denver these days, having hit the big time. And the new hopeful has a lot planned for his new home.

Denver Broncos: Wilson wants to win multiple Super Bowls

“My goal is to play another ten or twelve years and hopefully win three or four more Super Bowls, that’s the plan,” the 33-year-old expressed his big ambitions. “That’s my attitude. That’s why I came here, to finish my career here and hopefully come out on top as a champion. And to do that more than once.”

Wilson said one of the people he consulted before waiving his no-trade clause, thus making the trade possible in the first place, was the very Manning he himself once defeated in the Super Bowl.

“I think the most important thing he told me was that this is a winning organisation,” Wilson insisted: “That was the most important thing. Obviously you know that from the outside, but when you’re a part of it, involved in it every day, as a quarterback, as somebody that people look to to be led by, you want to make sure you can answer that question. And he said ‘without a doubt,’ he loved it here, he still lives here today.”

But the 2012 third-round pick didn’t forget his beginnings despite all the hoopla surrounding him and the near-mandated glorious future in Denver.

Russell Wilson thanks Seattle Seahawks

Wilson looks back on extremely successful years with the Seattle Seahawks. Accordingly, the playmaker did not want to leave his previous employer in a dispute and cast a shadow on the joint success story.

In doing so, Wilson thanked Head Coach Pete Carroll, General Manager John Schneider, a long list of assistant coaches and other staff members as well as the fans in Seattle. He also called the move a “mutual decision” by him and the Seahawks.

“But to come here, to an organisation that’s steeped in history, with so much history of success, so much excellence, it really excites me,” Wilson continued, “I wanted to make sure it was a perfect fit for me. When I met with George and Coach Hackett, I thought, ‘Okay, this could work for a long time.'”
