New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers frustrated? Jets clearly outclassed in joint practice

Are the harmonious days of the New York Jets numbered? Aaron Rodgers was mightily miffed after a joint practice session with the Carolina Panthers at the conclusion of training camps.

Everything was great for the New York Jets during training camp.

Aaron Rodgers seems to have transformed into a different person compared to his time in Green Bay, head coach Robert Saleh was always full of praise and the social media department couldn’t keep up with posting highlights from the training sessions.

However, there is now stink for the first time with the “Gang Green”. The reason: the joint training session with the Carolina Panthers.

Jets clearly defeated by Panthers

It’s a tradition in the NFL for teams to meet well in advance of the first preseason game to practice together and identify any weaknesses.

The Jets’ weaknesses were exposed by the Carolina Panthers. While Rodgers’ offense more or less went miserably off the field after three attempts, rookie Bryce Young and his Panthers marched down the field against the Jets’ starting defence – much to the displeasure of the new saviour Rodgers.

“I felt like Carolina had a different attitude than us for some reason,” the playmaker criticised his offence, but didn’t take himself out of it. “The running game was good, we struggled in the passing game.”

Centre Connor McGovern wasn’t happy either. “Everybody was unhappy. The offensive line, Aaron, the coaches. It was a disappointment for the whole team. “

Rodgers urges calm

However, Rodgers – understandably – did not want to hang the training session too high. “It was good that we played against a different defence that didn’t make it easy for us,” he revealed. “There were some good things in there, too. A lot of things you can work on now to learn.”

For their part, the Panthers were pleased with the unit. For rookie Young, it was his first encounter with Rodgers: “When someone gives you advice like that, you listen. I’m soaking it up,” the 22-year-old revealed. “We’re talking about Aaron Rodgers here. He’s had success when I was still in kindergarten.”

The preseason game between the Panthers and Jets is at 10pm German time on Saturday. Both coaches left it open whether and if so, how many starters will be used and for how long.
