Miami Dolphins: To prevent concussions – Tua Tagovailoa tests special helmet

Tua Tagovailoa is currently testing a new helmet that could protect him and other quarterbacks from serious head injuries in the future. However, it is still unclear if the Dolphins starter will wear it during the season.

Last season, Tua Tagovailoa suffered at least two concussions. To prevent more in the future, the Miami Dolphins quarterback has since been trying to “learn how to fall” with sessions of martial arts jiu-jitsu.

In addition, the 25-year-old could rely on a new helmet from the coming season. The NFL and the NFL Players Association have approved a new helmet this season, which the helmet manufacturer “Vicis” made specifically to protect quarterbacks.

Tagovailoa most recently stated that he was wearing the newly designed helmet at OTA’s to see how comfortable he was in it, “I’m still trying it out and there’s no better time than OTA’s to try it out. I’ve heard it’s supposedly better than the helmet I wore last year. If it’s so much safer, why wouldn’t I try it out? “

At the moment, however, Tagovailoa said he is not sure if he will wear the helmet during the season. He wants to “take enough time” to get a clear picture before making a decision.

It’s unclear, however, how much Tagovailoa will actually be able to test the helmet. Traditionally, quarterbacks are not thrown to the ground in practice to prevent unnecessary injuries.
