Kansas City Chiefs: Mahomes and Kelce invest in F1 team Alpine

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the superstars of the Kansas City Chiefs, are joining Formula One team Alpine.

In June this year, the Renault Group declared that it had sold 24% of the Alpine Formula 1 Grand Prix team to a consortium of investors. This is made up of Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Efforts Investments.

Otro Capital has now announced a new “investor injection” coming from some big-name sports stars.

Particularly interesting from an NFL perspective is that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs are part of this group. The quarterback of the reigning Super Bowl champions was particularly pleased about the investment.

In a statement, the 28-year-old said: “I have always had a passion for all sports. The opportunity to lead a group of investors with Travis in Alpine F1 alongside Otro Capital was one I couldn’t pass up.”

Mahomes added: “It is an exciting time for sport and this is an opportunity to bring our shared values to the world stage. I look forward to being a part of the growth. “

The investment amount of the group, which in addition to Mahomes and Kelce also includes golfer Rory McIlroy, professional footballers Trent Alexander-Arnold and Juan Mata and boxer Anthony Joshua, is said to be around 200 million euros.
