Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Mixon acquitted in court

In February, Joe Mixon was charged with aggravated menacing – now a court acquitted the star running back of the charges.

The incident between Mixon and the plaintiff allegedly occurred on January 21, 2023 – just one day before the playoff game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills.

A woman alleged that she confronted Mixon in his SUV due to his aggressive driving. The latter then pointed a firearm at her and threatened her: “I should shoot you in the face,” Mixon allegedly said.

The plaintiff in turn flipped him the finger and insulted him several times. “You are what is wrong with America!” the woman allegedly shouted at Mixon.

The charges against the Bengals star were dismissed after the verdict, as Christian Hauser of “Local 12 Cincinnati” reports.

While the altercation was caught on surveillance camera, there is no evidence that Mixon actually pointed a gun at the plaintiff.

Joe Mixon: Bad boy reputation precedes him

It’s not the first time Joe Mixon has drawn attention for an incident off the football field.

In 2014, while still in college for the Oklahoma Sooners, Mixon was suspended for a season and sentenced to 100 hours of community service after brutally punching a female student in the face.

In 2016, he threatened a parking attendant who ticketed him and was suspended for another game.

Last April, police responded to Mixon’s home after several shots were fired and a teenager was taken to hospital with injuries.

The boyfriend of Mixon’s sister was charged in the shooting, and the murder weapon apparently belonged to the running back, “Fox 19 Now” reported.

Joe Mixon: top performer on the field

Mixon was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017 and is facing his seventh year in the NFL. The running back is one of the absolute top performers in the Bengals’ offense.

Last season, he recorded 1255 rushing and receiving yards in 14 games and scored a total of 9 touchdowns.

The Cincinnati Bengals are also among the top favourites for the Super Bowl this year and will start the season on 10 September against the Cleveland Browns.
