The Buffalo Bills have been eliminated from the playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals. The frustration was written all over their faces after the game ended, but wide receiver Stefon Diggs seemed to be especially upset by the loss – the star practically fled the locker room.
The disappointment was great for the Buffalo Bills. The abrupt end of the season with the 10:27 loss in the Divisional Round against the Cincinnati Bengals was not what many had in mind.
But the Bengals came into the game better prepared and the Bills never really got into it. The result was the first playoff home loss under head coach Sean McDermott, which seemed to hit one star in particular on the Buffalo team.
Stefon Diggs must be called back into dressing room
Stefon Diggs reportedly left the locker room after the game before all the coaches had even gotten there. According to reports, the wide receiver had to be brought back by Duke Johnson, running back from the practice squad.
McDermott stated after the game that Diggs was there during his address to the team and that “counted the most.” Shortly after, however, the receiver reportedly left the stadium.
Cole Beasley: “He’s said to be frustrated “
“He’s a competitive guy. That’s what makes him so good, too. We all are. We work extremely hard and that’s why it hurts even more. And when you go out there and give everything we’ve done and then it’s not enough – it hurts,” added the Head Coach.
Cole Beasley also spoke about his fellow receiver, “He should be frustrated. We all are. Whoever would be happy with the situation right now, we didn’t want them on the team.” However, Diggs let his discontent out during the game.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the Bills were forced to leave the field after four unsuccessful tries, and defeat seemed only a matter of time. Diggs reared up in front of Josh Allen with his arms outstretched and seemed to be yelling at his quarterback. Without a touchdown pass and with an interception – albeit only seconds before the end – Allen did not have a particularly good day.
However, Diggs was not in a particularly good mood either. With only four of eleven passes caught for 35 yards, he had the worst catch rate in his three seasons with the Bills. He even caught just one of five balls in his direction for eight yards in the second half.
The Bills’ anemic performance, especially towards the end, now raises some questions. Once again they failed early on their way to the Super Bowl.
