“Am happy”: Johnny Manziel concludes his football career

Johnny Manziel was considered the next big NFL star, but the quarterback enjoyed wild parties more than training. Nevertheless, the former first-round pick looks back on his NFL career with pride.

Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel shot down with his football career. “I’ve reached a point where I’m trying to be happy in my life and not on the football field,” Manziel told the Lubbock Avalanche Journal.

“Johnny Football” – a star in college
Many people would like to see another comeback, Manziel continues, but he has never felt as comfortable as he does at the moment. “I honestly admit that I am happy and try to do the things that make me laugh. That means more to me than working hard on the football field.”

Manziel was considered an up-and-coming NFL star while he was in college at Texas A&M. In 2012, “Johnny Football” won the Heisman Trophy for best college player. The Cleveland Browns voted Manziel the 22nd pick in the 2014 draft, but party, drug and alcohol escapades ensured that he never lived up to the expectations placed in him.

Manziel looks back proudly on his career
After the 2015 season, Manziel was dismissed and his comeback in the Canadian Football League also failed. “After being drafted, I didn’t work hard enough to become a good player. I think I just wasn’t on the ball,” Manziel said today.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old is happy with his career: “At the end of the day I’m proud. Proud of what I did and what I achieved,” Manziel assured. “I had the opportunity to play really great football in college. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out in the NFL and that’s okay.”
