Antonio Brown reportedly has “genuine” interest from several teams in returning to the NFL more than a year after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Is scandal pro Antonio Brown making another return to the NFL?
What was previously considered extremely unlikely is currently up for debate again.
As his agent J.R. Rickert explained to “CBS”, some NFL teams are said to have “real” interest in signing the wide receiver. “He’s looking at what might be the best fit. I think he’s a multi-talented guy that does everything at a high level, and when he sets his mind to something, he goes all-in. “
No specific teams said to be considering signing “AB”, however, have been named.
Antonio Brown fueled rumors of NFL return himself
The 34-year-old last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL in January 2022 before a scandal broke out during the game against the New York Jets and Brown was subsequently released.
A few weeks ago, the player himself fuelled the rumours with a controversial tweet claiming that he would be playing for the Baltimore Ravens next season. In the process, Brown already showed himself in a picture in a Ravens jersey.
The statement about the comeback caused confusion, but turned out to be a hoax and was appropriately ridiculed on the net.
Antonio Brown to make football comeback for Albany Empire
The former star receiver has only recently become the majority owner of the Albany Empire out of the National Arena League (NAL). Within weeks of the ex-NFL star taking power, however, the indoor football team was already sinking deeper into chaos.
In his new home, however, Brown is now on the verge of a return to the football field. As Rodger Wyland of “WNYT” reports, Brown is said to have told him that he will play himself at his franchise’s next home game on 27 May.
That could make the longtime Pittsburgh Steelers NFL star the second owner to play for his own franchise, after George Halas. Halas, who has already passed away, was a player, coach and owner of the Chicago Bears and was nicknamed “Papa Bear”.
