The Minnesota Vikings beat the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson delivers another monster performance and breaks an NFL legend’s record.

Munich – In his Minnesota Vikings’ 33-26 win over the New England Patriots, Justin Jefferson registered 139 receiving yards. With this he broke the record of Randy Moss, who previously held the record for most receiving yards in the first three NFL seasons with 4,163 yards. Jefferson currently stands at 4,248 yards – and has six games left to extend his record.

The game got off to a fast start, with Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins leading his offence directly to a touchdown on the first drive, which Justin Jefferson scored for the home team. His Patriots counterpart Mac Jones answered immediately and found wide receiver Nelson Agholor in the end zone.

New England Patriots at Minnesota Vikings: contested game until intermission

After that, the game calmed down a bit. The Patriots scored with field goals, the Vikings added another touchdown. The score was 16:16 going into the half-time break.

Both teams came out of the dressing room with power: First New England marched 75 yards for a touchdown in the first drive, then the Vikings answered with a kickoff return touchdown of 97 yards – 23:23.

After that, the referees made a controversial call. A catch by Patriots tight end Hunter Henry was ruled a touchdown. However, after viewing the video footage, that decision was reversed and the Patriots had to settle for a field goal.

Patriots afford themselves too many penalties

It was supposed to be the last points for the Patriots. With unnecessary fouls, the Patriots kept depriving themselves of their reward. The Vikings gave the right answer to the 3:40 home defeat against the Dallas Cowboys last week with the home win.

The Vikings host the New York Jets on matchday 13. The Patriots are already challenged next Thursday in the Thursday Night Game against division rival Buffalo Bills.
