Ben Roethlisberger throws without pain for the first time in years

After an elbow operation on his throwing arm, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers is still in the build-up training and making great progress. Big Ben, on the other hand, does not want to know about overweight.

After his elbow operation last autumn, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers is still in training and making great progress. The 38-year-old is making great progress.

“For the first time in years I’m throwing without pain,” Roethlisberger told the newspaper “Post-Gazette”: “At some games I had a little pain. At some games I had a lot of pain. But in the game against New England and in the game against Seattle (last season, editor’s note) it was too much.

After those two games, Big Ben ended his season before week three and had surgery. And the operation seems to have gone perfectly:

“To throw without pain now? That feels good. That feels good. I know I’m not getting any younger, but I feel younger because I don’t have any pain”.

GM announces strong big-ben return
General Manager Kevin Colbert goes one step further and announces a return to the form of the past days of his franchise quarterback:

“The exciting thing is that we might get a better Ben Roethlisberger back after the operation,” Colbert recently reported in Indianapolis:

“He sat on the bench for a year. He had no wear on his body for a year. Sure, he had major surgery, but we’re optimistic he’ll get better.”

Less than a month ago, Roethlisberger got permission from his attending physician to start throwing again. According to his own statement, he is currently throwing the football twice a week for about 20 yards 40 times each. Since he has not suffered any setbacks, the training workload is now to be steadily increased.

Roethlisberger clears up rumors of overweight
“I’ve heard people say I’m fat and it just blows my mind,” Big Ben explained, “I’m lighter and in better shape than I’ve been in the last two years. I haven’t stopped exercising.”

He continued: “Normally I don’t train at all in the off-season, but I did exercises with my coach five days a week. Cardio twice a week. Legs twice a week. Twice a week upper body.”

But the quarterback can figure out the source of the speculation: “I guess it’s my beard that makes me look heavier. It must weigh five pounds, I know. But I’m not overweight.”
