Before this season, pass rusher Von Miller signed a six-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. Now the 33-year-old explains that he almost ended up with the Dallas Cowboys instead of Western New York. The sticking point, however: salary.
Munich/Buffalo – He’s arguably the Buffalo Bills’ “king transfer” this Free Agency. Two-time Super Bowl winner Von Miller joined the Bills in March.
But the long-time Denver Broncos team captain almost made a completely different decision – to join the Dallas Cowboys. That’s what he revealed this week.
Von Miller would have taken a pay cut for Dallas Cowboys
In an interview with The Athletic, he spoke about the Cowboys’ offer. “I told them I was willing to play for them,” Miller said.
In doing so, the outside linebacker would have even taken a pay cut, as he explained. “I would have taken even less money than I did in Los Angeles just to play in Dallas,” the Texas native said. “But not that much less. “
Accordingly, Miller reportedly turned down an offer of $70 million for five years. The same offer that was made to defensive end Randy Gregory before he opted to move to the Denver Broncos.
In the spring, Miller signed a contract with the Bills that pays him $120 million over six years, $51 million of which is guaranteed.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, opted for a cheap solution: Dante Fowler came in for three million dollars, and they also drafted edge rusher Sam Willis from Ole Miss.
