Antonio Brown will probably have to bury his dream of ending his career with the Steelers. Coach Mike Tomlin’s statements on the subject are too clear.
Munich/Pittsburgh – In May, Antonio Brown caused a stir with a tweet.
At the time, he let the public know that he would prefer to end his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As is well known, he had his most successful time there between 2010 and 2018, before there was a rift between him and the Steelers.
Tomlin responds to Brown tweet
Now coach Mike Tomlin has responded to the tweet, making it clear that he categorically rules out a return for the Bad Boy.
“You all know that’s not going to happen,” Tomlin said during his appearance on “The Pivot podcast”. “He’s moved on and we’ve moved on. We can’t sit here and pretend it’s a realistic option. We all know it’s not realistic.”
He had nine fantastic years with Brown in Pittsburgh, explained Tomlin, who has been head coach of the Steelers since 2007.
In those nine seasons, AB developed into one of the NFL’s best wide receivers, posting a total of 11,207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns. He appeared in the Pro Bowl seven times.
Brown: From Pro Bowler to Scandal Noodle
After leaving Pittsburgh, Brown went from bad to worse. With the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots, he practically only drew attention to himself through scandals.
Even after he celebrated his first Super Bowl triumph with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, things did not calm down for him.
Last season, he also provoked an inglorious exit with the Bucs. During the game against the New York Jets, he suddenly took off his jersey and disappeared into the catacombs.
In Pittsburgh, too, he seems to have smashed so much china that he can no longer even count on a symbolic one-day contract, with which NFL franchises usually see deserving players off into retirement.
At least Tomlin’s statements don’t suggest that at all.
