Quarterback Cam Newton is showing his giving spirit and wants to give away 50 tickets to those in need for the Carolina Panthers’ upcoming game against the Washington Football Team. It’s Newton’s first home game since his return.
Munich – After two years Cam Newton is back with the Carolina Panthers. And for his return to the “Bank of America Stadium”, the quarterback has therefore come up with something special – he wants to donate 50 tickets to people who otherwise do not have the opportunity to attend the Panthers’ home games.
“I’m convinced that this Sunday is important for us. We have to take back Bank of America Stadium. I know the success wasn’t there, but we’re not talking about the past. We are talking about the things ahead,” the returnee said at a press conference on Thursday.
Newton is looking to expand the fan base with the move and bring home-field advantage back to Carolina. The Panthers lost three of their five games at home this season.
The idea came about in a recent conversation with his cousin, according to Newton. They were talking about what he would do if he could return to Charlotte.
“I would bring the city together in a way that probably hasn’t happened before,” Newton recalled of the conversation.
Looking forward to homecoming
The playmaker is expected to start on Sunday. He already celebrated his comeback last week.
In the surprising 34:10 win at the Arizona Cardinals Newton scored two touchdowns, one by running and one by passing. Now comes the home comeback in the second game after his return. “I’ve said there’s no other place in football I’d rather be Sunday than Bank of America Stadium. It’s going to be a playoff atmosphere in more ways than one. “
