The Seattle Seahawks stand at a 2-5 record after the 10:13 against the New Orleans Saints. Coach Pete Carroll expresses how much he misses quarterback Russell Wilson after third straight loss
Munich – Pete Carroll knows who he owes a lot to with the Seattle Seahawks. And the long-time coach therefore naturally also knows what the current misery is all about.
The mini-crisis has a name: Russell Wilson. The quarterback superstar is missing from every corner of the Hawks’ game, including Monday Night’s 10-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints (see highlights).
For the Seahawks, the current 2-5 record after seven games is tantamount to their worst start to a season since 2011. Wilson has been missing from the Seahawks since the fifth day of play, when he suffered a finger injury. He has since been replaced by Geno Smith.
Looking forward to his return
Carroll therefore formulated a small declaration of love to his playmaker, with whom he has worked in Seattle since 2012, after the loss to the Saints.
“I’ve been here a long time. And if we didn’t have Russell, I probably wouldn’t be here as long. Think of all the magic he’s created over the years,” Carroll enthused. “He’s one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. And it’s going to be really fun when he comes back and plays football for us again this year.”
That won’t be until game day ten at the earliest, as Wilson is on the Injured Reserve list and thus must rest for at least three games. That means he’ll still miss Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then after the bye week in Week 9, he might be back on the tenth day of play just in time for the cracker against the Green Bay Packers.
So long, it’s hang in there. Carroll: “We miss him, and in the meantime we’ll keep fighting and doing everything we can. “
