The Kansas City Chiefs signed Josh Gordon during the week. Just a short time after signing him, Head Coach Andy Reid praised the wide receiver who could return to the field in the very near future.
Munich/Kansas City – Josh Gordon is back in the NFL – and could soon be back in a league game.
Just days before their clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed the pass receiver to a one-year deal.
Chiefs: Reid excited about Gordon
First, the former Seahawks, Browns and Patriots receiver is expected to get the fitness he needs on the practice squad. That development seems to be going so well that Gordon could be called up to the Active Roster as soon as possible.
“He’s in pretty good shape, he’s got a little less body fat than I do. He’s well-toned and really fit,” USA Today Sports quoted head coach Andy Reid as saying.
As reported by the “NFL Network”, the long-time scandal pro could get a call-up to the top-flight Chiefs offence as early as Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Gordon is not yet an option for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles (live stream on ran.de from 19:00).
Chiefs: Last chance for Josh Gordon?
“He’s not playing this week, but he’s preparing and learning the playbook. He’s doing the mental part and then he’ll scrape off some rust as well. But you can see he’s very talented. You’ve all seen him play, so I’m not telling you anything you don’t know – but he’s very talented,” Reid praised the 2013 Pro Bowler.
Gordon played his last game in the NFL to date in December 2019 for the Seattle Seahawks before being suspended for violations of banned substance policy.
After undergoing treatment, being pardoned this September and being signed by Kansas City, the wait could be over as early as next week
