Following the photo scandal involving Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has spoken out.
It was arguably the most explosive story of the NFL offseason. A few months ago, several photos of Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in rather intimate moments surfaced.
However, the woman seen alongside the head coach was not his wife, but NFL reporter Dianna Russini.
Now, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has also commented on the matter, explaining that while the photos caused short-term professional complications for Vrabel, they will have no long-term impact on his job security.
On the ESPN show “First Take,” host Shae Cornette asked the billionaire: “It’s been a somewhat turbulent offseason—I suppose you could call it that—for your head coach, Mike Vrabel. What was it like to navigate this situation during the offseason?”
Kraft hopes for many years with Vrabel
Kraft’s response: “We’re lucky to have Mike as our head coach. You know, nobody’s infallible. And the great thing about Mike is that he has a tremendous theoretical understanding of football and has mastered all the technical skills.”
He continued: “He connects wonderfully with the players. And he’s someone I believe in wholeheartedly and trust completely. I hope he’ll remain our head coach for many years to come.”
While Vrabel is able to continue working despite the massive scandal, Russini, on the other hand, had to give up her job at “The Athletic.” So the question of double standards will remain for now.
