Ahead of the NFL game against the Detroit Lions, which will be played in Munich, the New England Patriots have announced a tour in Germany. There, fans will be able to view exhibits from the Patriots Hall of Fame and stand on the actual field at Gillette Stadium, among other things.

After the New England Patriots played their first—and so far only—NFL game in Germany in 2023, the franchise is returning this season.

On November 15, the team led by quarterback Drake Maye will face the Detroit Lions at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Now, the six-time Super Bowl champion has announced the “Legendary Tour,” which is designed to get German NFL fans excited for the blockbuster matchup.

The tour kicks off on July 3 and will include several stops at various events.

Fans can stand on the real grass of Gillette Stadium

“With the Legendary Tour, the Patriots are bringing a piece of Foxborough and the NFL to Germany: A Patriots-branded championship container will serve as the centerpiece of a roadshow that stops at select sporting events. There, the container will become a community hub—an experiential space for both football newcomers and hardcore fans alike,” according to the franchise’s press release.

After the last playoff game of the previous season, the turf at Gillette Stadium was replaced in preparation for the World Cup.

A section of this artificial turf was sent to Germany for the Legendary Tour. This gives fans the opportunity to play the popular American game of cornhole on the turf during the tour.

“It’s just great that the Patriots are playing in Germany again. The Legendary Tour is meant to get all fans—and those who might want to become fans—in the mood for the game. And when else do you get the chance to play on the field at Gillette Stadium?” says former Patriots player and TV analyst Sebastian Vollmer.

Tom Brady’s worn glove on display

Around the Championship Container, fans can test their throwing skills in the Quarterback Challenge or take souvenir photos in team gear at the Patriots photo booth.

There will also be a digital wheel of fortune where exclusive prizes—including tickets to the game in Munich—will be raffled off.

In the “Home of the Patriots” area, special exhibits from the Patriots Hall of Fame will be on display. These include, for example, a glove worn by Tom Brady and a shoe worn by Drew Bledsoe.

The mascot “Pat Patriot” will be present at all stops and available for autographs and photos. In addition, special guests will be on site on select dates—including Sebastian Vollmer and the two German flag football players Pia Schwarz and Mona Stevens.

Stops at DTM races at the Norisring and Hockenheimring

Two of the Legendary Tour’s four stops will take place as part of the partnership with the DTM at the races at the Norisring and Hockenheimring.

The MotoGP race at the Sachsenring adds another motorsports highlight to the schedule. In August, the tour will make a stop at the Flag Football World Championship in Düsseldorf.

The grand finale of the Legendary Tour will then take place on November 15 in Munich as part of the Munich Games against the Detroit Lions.
