Joe Burrow is now officially back with the Cincinnati Bengals. The quarterback, who was the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has recovered from a serious knee injury suffered last fall and will be able to participate in training camp.
A collective sigh of relief must have been heard around the Cincinnati Bengals facility as well as the city over the past day. As NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports, quarterback hopeful Joe Burrow will be able to fully participate in the Bengals’ training camp, which begins this week.
“He’ll be on the field and healthy. Plus, the team has no aspirations of putting him on the PUP list,” Rapoport said. PUP means Physically Unable to Play, de facto injured.
Serious Injury in 2020
Burrow suffered a serious injury in Week 11 of last season, when a Washington football player fell into his legs on a play, rupturing not only his anterior cruciate ligament but also damaging several ligaments and his meniscus.
At the time, it was predicted that he might not even be able to return in week one of the 2021 season. Now he seems to be fully recovered about eight weeks before the start of the season. On 12 September, the Bengals will play the Minnesota Vikings in week one.
