NFL – Buffalo Bills: Damar Hamlin signs new contract

The Buffalo Bills have agreed a new contract with safety Damar Hamlin. He missed most of the pre-season due to a pectoral muscle injury.

The Buffalo Bills are still banking on safety Damar Hamlin. As the NFL franchise announced on Friday, Hamlin signed a new one-year contract.

The 28-year-old was dogged by injury in the 2025 season. Hamlin suffered a pectoral muscle injury back in October 2025 and was placed on the Bills’ Injured Reserve List as a result.

Until his long-term absence, Hamlin, who was drafted by Buffalo in 2021, played in five games for the Bills this season, making one tackle.

Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field in 2023

Before Hamlin made the jump to the NFL, he played for the University of Pittsburgh. Among other things, he made 185 tackles in 53 games.

Most NFL fans, however, associate Hamlin with a worrying scene from January 2023, when the Bills professional suffered cardiac arrest in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals following a violent collision with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins.

As “ESPN” later reported, Hamlin subsequently had to be resuscitated twice. The game was not resumed afterwards. “Today’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals has been postponed after Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapsed. This was announced by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell,” a statement said at the time.

After his comeback, Hamlin even became a starter for the Bills in the meantime.
