NFL – New York Jets: Head Coach Aaron Glenn sleeps during the Combine

Better to sleep than watch? New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn was shown on TV at the NFL Scouting Combine appearing to be asleep.

Aaron Glenn, head coach of the New York Jets, caused a viral moment at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine – but not for sporting reasons.

NFL Network cameras captured the 53-year-old in the upper suites, apparently fast asleep during the edge rushers’ positional drills.

The clip shows Glenn with his eyes closed and his head slightly bowed. A short time later, he is apparently woken up by someone – he looks surprised and somewhat panicked.

The moment spread rapidly on social media within a few hours, generating numerous memes and mocking comments. Jets fans reacted with a mixture of frustration and gallows humor. One user wrote: “First he fires his entire coaching staff, now he sleeps during the combine. The Jets could be worse off than the Cleveland Browns.”

New York Jets: Aaron Glenn takes on more responsibility

Glenn, a former cornerback and 1994 Jets draft pick, has been head coach in New York since January 2025. His first season ended with a disappointing 3-14 record. Glenn has already taken action for 2026: he is taking over play-calling responsibility for the defense himself and has replaced large parts of his staff. At his press conference at the start of the Combine, he emphasized that they wanted to “turn the narrative around.”

Whether the sleeping moment was merely a harmless moment of exhaustion after long days of scouting or a symbol of the current mood at the Jets remains open to interpretation. The fact is, the clip fits perfectly into the narrative of a team that is entering the draft with the second and 16th picks after a disastrous season and is in desperate need of stability. Glenn himself has not yet commented on the viral video. The Combine continues through the weekend, with the Jets looking to strengthen their defensive line and secondary in particular.
