After being released by the Miami Dolphins, star receiver Tyreek Hill has spoken out on social media.

“The journey continues. From the bottom of my heart, I thank the entire Miami Dolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most of all, the Fins Nation for four unforgettable years,” wrote the wide receiver.

“From the moment I landed in Miami, I felt the love. You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. The last few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career,“ Hill said. ”To my brothers in the locker room who have come and gone—thank you for the wins, the losses, the memories, the sacrifices. Together, we built something special for the city of Miami. To all my coaches and the organization: Thank you for challenging me to grow and holding me accountable.“

A big thank you to the Dolphins fans

Of course, a thank you to the Dolphins fans was also in order. ”You are special. The way you were there for us week after week, regardless of the outcome – that love was real. I felt it throughout the city and every time I entered Hard Rock Stadium. Miami, you have become my home. But the journey doesn’t end here…“

Every chapter in his life has taught Hill something: ”This one has taught me leadership, resilience, and above all, gratitude. The love I have for this sport is indescribable. And right now, in this offseason, the Cheetah is fully motivated and focused for the first time ever. The Cheetah is not slowing down. Ever.”

Hill’s dismissal was in the works

It was already clear that he would lose his job with the Dolphins. Hill, who suffered a serious knee injury during the 2025 season and whose return to the football field is uncertain, would have cost the Dolphins’ salary cap a good $51 million in the coming season. Although the Dolphins will have to accept a dead cap of $28.2 million as a result of the dismissal, they will still save a lot of money. The release makes Hill a free agent for the first time in his career. The wide receiver is the second top star the Dolphins have parted ways with in a matter of hours. Pass rusher Bradley Chubb was the first to go. Miami is thus consistently pursuing a rebuild after the era with head coach Mike McDaniel came to an end.

Hill moved from the Kansas City Chiefs to Miami in March 2022 as part of a blockbuster trade. He quickly became a feared weapon, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa repeatedly feeding the lightning-fast receiver with deep balls.

Tyreek Hill dominated the league with the Dolphins

After strong years in Kansas City, Hill really blossomed again in Miami and was selected to the First-Team All-Pro in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, he led the league in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

What happens next for Hill is unclear. His serious injury from last season, in which he dislocated his knee and tore his cruciate ligament, among other things, is likely to reduce his value. In any case, it is unclear whether he will be fit to play again during the 2026 season.

After Chubb and Hill, Tagovailoa is the third and perhaps most important personnel issue that the Dolphins are likely to deal with in the coming weeks. Unlike the other two players, releasing him for financial reasons is not a viable option; only a trade would save Miami money.

New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan recently stated that a decision is pending on whether Tagovailoa will remain on the roster in 2026. The playmaker lost his place toward the end of last season and was benched by McDaniel in favor of rookie Quinn Ewers.
