All clear for St. Brown: No “very long-term” absence

A stroke of luck for Amon-Ra St. Brown: The German-American football star of the Detroit Lions does not appear to have suffered a serious injury. Head coach Dan Campbell said after the 24-31 defeat against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving that he did not believe the injury would be “very long-term”:

“That’s the good news, but it could still take a week or two if we’re lucky,” he added. Wide receiver St. Brown had to leave the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury after an unfortunate play and did not return.

His teammate Kayode Awosika had fallen awkwardly on the 26-year-old’s leg, and St. Brown limped off the field, ending the game without a single pass catch. This ended his impressive streak of 70 games in which he caught at least one ball.

With a game against the Dallas Cowboys scheduled for Friday night next week, it will be very tight for St. Brown to return. Detroit has a crucial few weeks ahead in the playoff race, sitting in third place in the competitive NFC North with a 7-5 record. Each of their next three opponents has a winning record.
