German tight end Maximilian Mang was released by the Indianapolis Colts a few days ago. Now he is getting a new chance with the New York Giants.
Maximilian Mang has found a new team just a few days after being released by the Indianapolis Colts.
The German tight end is joining the New York Giants’ practice squad. For the 25-year-old, this is his next chance to establish himself in the NFL for the long term.
The move to the Giants comes just one week after Mang was released by his previous team, the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts had signed him as an undrafted free agent in the spring.
Although he initially did not make the final roster cut before the season, he was brought back to the practice squad shortly thereafter. Head coach Shane Steichen even praised him publicly around the time of the Berlin game: “He has made great progress. He is tough and competitive, and the team loves him.”

Despite this praise, the Colts decided last week to release three players from the practice squad, including Mang. At the same time, the team added four new athletes to the roster, making Mang a free agent.
With his signing by the Giants, the tight end now has another opportunity to prove himself in the NFL environment. How good his chances are of making the jump to the active roster remains to be seen.
