Dak Prescott is having a difficult season with the Dallas Cowboys, but is now statistically number one in franchise history.
Dak Prescott is now the most effective passer in Dallas Cowboys franchise history.
The quarterback broke Tony Romo’s record (34,183) for most career passing yards in Cowboys history on Sunday in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He surpassed that mark in the third quarter with a 9-yard pass to George Pickens.

Before the game, Prescott needed 160 yards to surpass Romo on the all-time list. He ended up throwing for 354 yards and led his team to a spectacular 24-21 comeback victory after trailing 0-21.
In his tenth season – all with Dallas – Prescott has now surpassed the 2,500 passing yard mark eight times, including the 2019 season with 4,902 yards, when he was just one yard shy of tying Romo’s franchise record for a season (4,903; 2012).
Prescott succeeded Romo
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott succeeded Romo as the Cowboys’ franchise quarterback. Romo retired after the 2016 season.
Although critics often point to the lack of team success during Prescott’s tenure (four division titles, five playoff appearances, but no advancement beyond the divisional round), Prescott’s individual achievements are undeniable.
The 2018 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has been named to the Pro Bowl three times, surpassed 3,500 passing yards in five seasons, and thrown at least 30 touchdowns in three seasons.
