NFL: Super Bowl – Roger Goodell gives Tennessee Titans hope for NFL final

At the topping-out ceremony for the new stadium in Nashville, the league boss talks about the prospects of hosting the Super Bowl there in the foreseeable future.

For the Tennessee Titans, 2027 will mark the beginning of a new era. That is when their new arena is scheduled to open, according to current plans.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was also present at the topping-out ceremony in Nashville this Friday – and was almost inevitably asked whether the arena could also host a Super Bowl.

What he said is likely to have delighted fans across Tennessee. The city of Nashville is already ready for the Super Bowl, the league boss is quoted as saying on the Titans’ website: “The only thing missing was the stage,” Goodell explained, “and I think they’re building a great stage now.”

In other words, once the stadium is ready for occupancy, there should be nothing to prevent the NFL final from being held in the new stadium.

Super Bowl in Nashville in 2029 at the earliest

The earliest date for this would be February 2029. The venues have already been decided until then: Next year, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara will host the big game, followed by SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in 2027 and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in 2028. Only after that could the Super Bowl be awarded to Nashville. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has already spoken out in favor of hosting the event there. At the beginning of the year, he wrote a letter to Goodell, which is part of Nashville’s bid to host the event in 2029. But Nashville is not the only city that has applied. Las Vegas has also thrown its hat into the ring.
