While Shedeur Sanders was making his NFL debut last weekend, thieves broke into his home. Now he has spoken about the shock.
Shedeur Sanders reacted with remarkable composure to the break-in at his home last Sunday.
“I’m in a mental state now where not much can faze me,” the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback said Wednesday during a media roundtable.
He also said with relief, “None of my jewelry was stolen,” and laughed.
The burglary was no trivial matter. According to police, thieves stole items worth about $200,000 from the 23-year-old.
According to a press release from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, three suspects broke into the quarterback’s home at around 6:46 p.m. on Sunday evening. Surveillance cameras recorded the trio entering and leaving various areas of the house.
The suspects wore masks and gloves and left the scene after twelve minutes.
Sanders botches NFL debut
The incident, which is being investigated by police, occurred while Sanders was making his NFL debut in the Browns’ game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The 144th pick in last year’s draft came on in the second half for starter Dillon Gabriel, who was unable to continue after suffering a concussion. However, Sanders’ performance in his debut was far from optimal. In the past twelve months, there have been countless burglaries at the homes of top athletes, including Luka Doncic, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce.
