NFL – Denver Broncos: Teammate emotionally defends Bo Nix against online critics

Bo Nix has recently come under heavy criticism for his performances with the Denver Broncos. His teammate Adam Trautmann has now defended the quarterback in no uncertain terms.

On the field, everything is going well for the Denver Broncos in the NFL – at least at first glance.

With a 9-2 record, the Colorado team leads the AFC, winning its last eight games – a winning streak not seen since Peyton Manning. The highlight of this development was Sunday’s victory over their long-time division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

But as successful as the Broncos have been on paper in recent weeks, the criticism of quarterback Bo Nix has been just as intense. The 25-year-old is playing his second year in the NFL, but the offense has often shown only mixed performances under his leadership. His passer rating of 86.1 is among the worst of any starting quarterback in the league, with Nix often missing relatively easy throws by a wide margin. Without their strong defense, the general consensus is that the Broncos would not have won many of their victories.

Against the Chiefs, however, he looked better, even though he didn’t throw a touchdown pass. His eight yards per pass attempt was the second-highest of his season so far, and his passer rating was higher than that of Patrick Mahomes on the other side.

NFL: Trautmann takes apart anonymous Nix critics

Probably also against the backdrop of this prestigious victory, tight end Adam Trautman now launched an all-out attack and defended his quarterback with emotional words. He took particular aim at people who anonymously criticize Nix on the internet.

“If you’re bashing Bo online, you’re a coward. An absolute coward,” Trautman said in a media roundtable. “We don’t care what other people think. We know what we have on our team, and we know what he’s made of, and we really don’t care what people say,” he explained.

Finally, Trautman addressed a virtual user directly. “So, Dragonslayer69 with his 7-Eleven Slurpee in his mom’s basement — I don’t give a damn what he has to say, you hear me? And neither does Bo,” the tight end concluded.
