NFL: Lamar Jackson’s diagnosis – will the Ravens star return in week six?

The Baltimore Ravens’ season has been ill-fated so far. They lost three of their first four games, and then quarterback Lamar Jackson was injured. But he may return sooner than expected.

The Baltimore Ravens started the season with a bitter shootout defeat against the Buffalo Bills.

The following week, they managed a convincing victory against the Cleveland Browns, which raised hopes of a turnaround. But then came a harsh reality check.

In week three, they suffered another disappointment with a 30-38 loss to the Detroit Lions, before the Kansas City Chiefs handed the Ravens a defeat last week, with several players, including their most important player, sustaining injuries.

Among the injured players was superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had delivered a commanding performance so far this season despite Baltimore’s weak defense: 869 passing yards, 166 rushing yards, plus 11 touchdowns with only one interception – almost back to MVP level.

Lamar Jackson back sooner than expected?

Jackson was forced to leave the field injured in the third quarter of the 20-37 loss to the Chiefs after being sacked by defensive end George Karlaftis. The two-time MVP did not return and spent the rest of the game on the bench, where he repeatedly stretched his injured right leg.

And the prognosis for the severity of the injury was initially very sobering.

As reported by the Baltimore Sun, Jackson was expected to miss not only the Ravens’ game against the Houston Texans (10:44) with a thigh injury. Instead, he was expected to be out for two to three weeks, which would rule him out of the game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6. The Ravens then have their bye week in Week 7.

Now, however, Fox reports that the Ravens are not ruling out the possibility of Jackson playing against the Rams. The report mentions a “long shot,” so it’s probably not likely. But Baltimore is not giving up hope yet.

In his absence, backup Cooper Rush is leading the offense on the field, but that didn’t work out against the Texans. Rush threw three interceptions in the decisive defeat.
