Has the Super Bowl halftime show already been decided? Rumors about Taylor Swift have been circulating for some time, and now NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made a cryptic statement.
On February 8, the 60th Super Bowl will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. And as every year, the question is not only who will win, but also: Who will perform in the legendary halftime show?
Since her relationship and now engagement to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift has been more present in the NFL than ever before. So it’s no surprise that her name keeps coming up in connection with the halftime show.
Now, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has commented on the matter for the first time – and his statements leave more room for speculation than they do for clarity.
Taylor Swift in the halftime show?
On the American “Today Show,” Goodell was grilled about the current rumors surrounding Swift.
When asked if Swift could perform in the halftime show, he said, “We would always love to see Taylor play. She is a very special talent and would of course be welcome anytime.”
That was obviously not enough for the host, who pressed him further.
At first, Goodell evaded the question: “I can’t tell you everything about it.” Finally, after another question, he gave a brief but meaningful “maybe.”
Jay-Z decides on the show
During the conversation, Goodell also referred to rapper Jay-Z, whose label “Roc Nation” has been producing the halftime shows for years: “I’m waiting for my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands.”
Last year, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the act for the show for the first time at around the same time.
