NFL: Jimmie Ward of the Houston Texans is being sued by his ex-girlfriend for sexual assault

The safety is facing legal trouble after an incident on the night of June 12. The allegations made against him by a woman are serious.

Jimmie Ward must stand trial for an alleged incident that occurred just over two months ago.

The Houston Texans safety is accused by his ex-girlfriend of sexually and physically assaulting her on the night of June 12. The woman has now filed a lawsuit against the 34-year-old in Harris County District Court in Texas.

According to reports by ESPN and ABC, the indictment states that the NFL pro violently attacked the woman multiple times, both physically and sexually, in the presence of their three-year-old son.

Woman makes serious allegations against Ward

“That night, she had the impression that he was under the influence of methamphetamines, specifically crystal meth,” the lawsuit states. On the same day, according to the lawsuit, Ward beat and choked the woman while her son was sleeping. Ward also threatened to kill the woman and forced her to perform sexual acts.

When she had the opportunity to escape, she took her child and ran into the street before calling 911.

According to ESPN, her claims for damages amount to more than $20 million. She is being represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has already represented several women in their cases of sexual assault against former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Ward’s lawyer explains strategy

Ward’s lawyer Stephen Jackson told ESPN: “We’re going to take it one step at a time. We will focus on the criminal allegations to get them dismissed, and then we will focus on the civil lawsuit.“

”Our primary focus right now is on the grand jury. We want to convince them that Jimmie should not be charged,” Jackson continued. The criminal case is scheduled to be heard before a jury on August 31.

The Texans declined to comment when asked by ESPN.

In June, Texans GM Nick Caserio said after Ward’s arrest that they would “work with the league and be cooperative.”

Ward was released on $30,000 bail at the time.
