Unbelievable scenes in the NFL preseason!
A brawl broke out on Wednesday during a joint training session between the New England Patriots and Washington Commanders. Right in the middle of it: Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel!
The NFL teams’ nemeses
As Zack Cox of the Boston Herald reported, a tackle by Patriots player TreVeyon Henderson against a Commanders player sparked the brawl. Both players then began fighting on the ground.
More and more teammates rushed to the scene. It was already the second altercation of the training session.
Mike Vrabel takes it with humor
Vrabel also jumped into the huddle to break up the situation. However, the coach himself was hit – unintentionally, of course, by his own player Will Campbell, who was also involved. The result: a bleeding wound on Vrabel’s right cheek.
The Patriots coach took the scuffle in stride, though. Wide receiver DeMario “Pop” Douglas said after the situation that Vrabel joked, “You should see the other guy.”
After a brief interruption, the training session continued.
