Bernhard Raimann’s rookie contract was originally set to expire after the 2025 season. Now the Austrian’s future has been clarified.
The Indianapolis Colts have made a statement. Much to the delight of Bernhard Raimann. The left tackle’s contract has now been extended.
Raimann, who was selected by the Colts in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, signed a four-year contract worth $100 million. $60 million of that is guaranteed.
With an annual salary of $25 million over the term of the contract extension, Raimann jumps into the top five highest-paid left tackles in the NFL – tied with Laremy Tunsil of the Washington Commanders in fourth place.
However, agreeing to continue working together was not a foregone conclusion, as Raimann explained last week. Speaking on “107.5 The Fan,” the 27-year-old said, “As far as I understand, the numbers don’t quite add up yet. They value the position differently than my team does.” It was about money.
Raimann remained optimistic, though, and rightly so, as evidenced by the new, lucrative contract.
The Austrian native started in 40 of 45 games during his time with the Colts and is one of the team’s top performers.
