NFL: Amon-Ra St. Brown draws level with receiver legend Larry Fitzgerald

Next milestone for Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Lions receiver draws level with an NFL legend.

German football pro Amon-Ra St. Brown has reached another milestone in his still young career in the NFL. In his Detroit Lions’ 34-17 win over the Chicago Bears, the 25-year-old not only scored his 11th touchdown of the season, but also surpassed the 100-reception mark in a single season with six catches.

For the statistics-crazy Americans, this propelled him into a very small and very illustrious circle: on the third-last day of the regular season, St. Brown completed his second season with ten or more touchdowns, 100 or more receptions and 1000 or more yards of rushing. Before St. Brown, only receiver legend Larry Fitzgerald, who played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2004 to 2020, had two such seasons in his first four NFL years.

Despite their bad luck with injuries this season, the Lions celebrated their 13th win in 15 games and can still hope to make it directly into the play-offs.

The last game of the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings could be decisive. Their rivals from the NFC North division have also only lost two of their 15 games, with the Vikings celebrating a 27-25 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers no longer have a chance of making the playoffs. The Californians, who lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the last Super Bowl, conceded a 17-29 defeat in the clash with the Miami Dolphins. However, their failure to make the playoffs was already certain before the game began because their opponents, the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams, were both victorious.
