NFL casting: New York Jets are looking for a new general manager and coach

The New York Jets are looking for a new general manager and head coach for the upcoming season. A first candidate seems to have been found.

Officially, the New York Jets are not yet allowed to interview any candidates for the positions of general manager or coach who perform any duties for other NFL teams.

This is only possible after the end of the regular season. However, according to “CBS”, a list of names that could be considered already exists.

In addition, the team wants to talk to candidates who are available this week. This is allowed.

There is said to be a favorite for the position of general manager.

General Manager: Ex-Titan for the Jets?

Owner Woody Johnson only fired head coach Robert Saleh at the beginning of October when the team was 2-3. Since then, the Jets have gone 1-7. General manager Joe Douglas had to leave in mid-November. So the Jets need a replacement in the near future to move forward with planning for the new season.

A first interview has already taken place. And that was with Jon Robinson. Apparently, the former GM of the Tennessee Titans is a favored candidate for the position.

Further interviews with other options are said to follow. The new manager should be able to deal with the special nature of Owner Johnson. According to the report, Johnson can be very idiosyncratic and have his quirks.

The Jets have been waiting for a playoff appearance since 2010. This is by far the longest streak of any NFL team. It is followed by the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos (2015).
